N.B. woman, 51, dies following two-vehicle collision in Cocagne

A 51-year-old woman from Saint-Antoine, N.B., has died following a two-vehicle collision in Cocagne Saturday night.

Members with the Richibucto and Shediac RCMP detachments responded to the collision on Route 11 around 10:50 p.m.

The driver of the first vehicle died at the scene.

The driver of the second vehicle was taken to hospital with what were believed to be serious injuries.

There were no passengers in either vehicle.

Police believe the crash happened when the second vehicle, which was travelling southbound, crossed the center line and collided with the first vehicle, which was travelling northbound.

A member of the New Brunswick Coroner’s Office attended the scene and are assisting with the investigation, which is ongoing.

Police say an autopsy will be conducted to determine the woman’s exact cause of death.

The Cocagne Fire Department, Ambulance New Brunswick, and an RCMP Collision Reconstructionist also attended the scene.

Police are asking anyone who was travelling in the area and may have witnessed the crash, or who may have dash camera footage, to call the Richibucto RCMP at 505-523-4611 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
