Driver, 15, charged in connection with fatal crash on Campobello Island: N.B. RCMP

A 15-year-old has been charged following a single-vehicle crash on Campobello Island last year that claimed the life of a 17-year-old boy.

Members of the St. Stephen RCMP were called to a report of a crash on Highway 774 in Wilson Beach on March 22, 2024, around 11:20 p.m.

The driver of the vehicle was taken to hospital with serious injuries and the 17-year-old passenger, who was the only other person in the vehicle, died at the scene.

Police say the 15-year-old, who cannot be named under the Youth Criminal Justice Act, has been charged with operating a motor vehicle while impaired causing death and dangerous operation of a motor vehicle causing death.

They are scheduled to appear in Saint John youth court on June 11.
