Kelsey McEwen is the chief meteorologist on CTV Your Morning. She has more than 15 years of experience in forecasting, risk communication, and broadcast meteorology. McEwen delivers clear, science-driven explanations of weather and climate events affecting millions of Canadians each day. She is known for explaining complex meteorological concepts in an accessible way without oversimplifying the science. Her work emphasizes forecast confidence and impact-based messaging, with the goal of helping audiences understand not only the conditions they are experiencing, but why they are occurring. Her on-air coverage spans severe weather, extreme temperature events, seasonal transitions and long-term climate patterns. McEwen maintains a consistent focus on accuracy, transparency and public safety, drawing on extensive experience both in the studio and in the field. McEwen began her broadcast journalism career as a reporter and weather specialist in Regina with Global News. She later joined the Weather Network as a regional correspondent in Alberta, where her work led to roles with CTV Calgary on CTV Morning Live and CTV News at Noon. In 2016, she moved to Toronto to help launch CTV Your Morning. Grounded in science while embracing the human side of weather, McEwen believes communication is most effective when it feels relatable. She enjoys connecting with audiences, using weather as a shared experience that sparks curiosity and conversation. A graduate of Calgary's SAIT Polytechnic with a diploma in broadcasting, McEwen also completed the operational meteorology program at Mississippi State University, qualifying her to analyze and forecast weather patterns, in addition to reporting on them. Balancing early mornings with family life, McEwen brings a real-world lens to her work, linking weather science to the everyday decisions Canadians make at home, on the road and in their communities.
